One of my favourite pastimes, the one I have a particular liking for is going to the cinema.
Among different types of movies (like comedies, romantic dramas, adventures, police dramas or detective movies, psychological thrillers, horror movies or historical films) best of all I like detective movies and romantic dramas because most of such movies are interesting and full of life to me. But I also like good horror movies and I find them quite thrilling since my childhood.
But now I’d like to tell you about the movie that I find most pleasant to watch. It’s called “What Dreams May Come”. It is a 1998 American fantasy drama, starring Robin Williams. The film is based on the 1978 novel of the same name by Richard Matheson and was directed by Vincent Ward.
It’s a beautiful story about a married couple. Chris (Robin Williams) and Annie (Annabella Sciorra) play husband and wife. They met by chance and fell in love immediately. They have two wonderful kids and a marriage full of love and life. But tragically, one day their kids are taken from them in a car accident. They hold on to their lives and fight the sorrow, but one day, four years later, Chris’s life is also taken. He ends up in Heaven, but can’t accept his fate. A guide is sent to him, in the form of his friend Albert (Cuba Gooding Jr.). Albert leads Chris on a journey through Heaven. In the real world, Annie can’t handle Chris’s death, and she kills herself and ends up in Hell. Chris must go on a journey to find her, and save her from an eternity of suffering.
This movie hits all the right chords. It makes you laugh and cry at times. The love Chris has for Annie is stronger than anything you have ever seen. He’s willing to lose his mind, and spend all eternity in Hell with her, with neither of them recognizing the other because they are soul mates, destined to be together for all the time. This movie is hard to explain in any other way. The journey Chris goes through is remarkable, but the real star of this film is the visuals.
From the opening shot to the closing frame, it is magnificent. The story is enveloping encompassing nearly every asset of human emotion. It’s a roller–coaster ride but rewarding. Comedy, hope, sadness, joy, elation, despair. all displayed perfectly.
It’s a story about everlasting love and dreams that always come true.

The first successful permanent theatre showing only movies was «The Nickelodeon» in Pittsburgh in 1905. And in 1907 movies started to be based on the literature works. Nowadays there are a lot of different versions of one book that you can watch on a big screen.
And if we are talking about cinema theatres, you might be surprised with several different types of cinema theatres: Multiplex, Imax, Independent, Second–Run and Drive–In.
Also it’s safe to say that movies are a powerful force in our modern world. Cinema is used in the field of education. Video classes are really useful when we are talking about studying foreign languages. They can help you to see something wonderful in the world, even if you never leave your place. The news on TV helps to know what happens in the world every day. It also helps to draw the attention of people to different important problems like hunger, poverty, environmental problems and so on.
Cinema is a great entertainment. It’s a pleasant way to relax and get pleasure, while watching something on the screen. Nowadays people can’t just imagine their life without cinematographic art.

Sometimes I may watch a police drama or a historical film, but I’m not very keen on these types of films. Now let me tell you about one of my favourite films «Gone with the wind» by the novel by Margaret Mitchell.
Unfortunately, I don’t remember the name of its producer, but I like the acting. Scarlett O’Hara — there is no more lively character, which makes the reader and the spectator palpitate (in the film this role was played by Vivian Lee). Maybe the words from the Irish song are about Scarlett: «if the Irish eyes are laughing, oh, they’ re stealing your heart».
Scarlett goes through many trials and troubles, but her sharp and strong mind, her strong will help her to survive. And not only to survive, but to render and to develop moral values in this cruel world. Ratt was telling her in vain that they were both scoundrels. He is cynical by conviction, she is under the pressure of circumstances.
Scarlett is a symbol of wonderful America, the child, who was crippled with greed, but didn’t lose inner beauty. Even her name, which was found at the last moment >n the publishing house contained the ideal and vice, innocence and regeneration. Much in common, though their characters and fates are different, has Scarlett with the character of another film Jane Eyre.

But they are both strong in the difficult minutes of the life. Skarlett and Jane for the sake of love can pass through all the difficulties. They are faithful to their men.
And I like it, that they, thank to their mind and abilities reached a lot in life. And eventually people get to appreciate both of them.

My favourite film is “The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring”. It is the first film of the ”Lord of the Rings“ film series, based on the book of the same name by J. R. R. Tolkien. The film was shot in 2001. It was directed by the New Zealand film director Peter Jackson.
The film is set in Middle-earth – a land where such “goodly” races as hobbits, elves, dwarfs and men live. Since the ancient times they have warred with orcs, goblins and trolls. At the beginning of the film we learn about the One Ring – a powerful weapon created by the Dark Lord Sauron – which was occasionally found by Bilbo Baggins, the hobbit.
On his 111th birthday Bilbo had a great party, after which he suddenly departed and left his young cousin Frodo all his belongings, including the magic ring.
A few years later Gandalf, the wizard, visits Frodo to tell him the truth about the ring. A short time after that Frodo and three of his friends leave Shire. They are followed by the Black Riders, who are searching for Frodo and the Ring. On their way they meet a new friend Aragorn.
The Black Riders attacked Frodo and his friends and one of them stabbed Frodo in the shoulder with a cursed knife. Aragorn took Frodo and the hobbits to the Rivendell where his wound was healed and the Fellowship of the Ring was formed to take the One Ring to Mordor and destroy it.
