Today many schools introduce their uniforms for students or have strict dress code. Parents and students see a lot of benefits of this innovation but at the same time have some doubts. Let us analyze the main concerns.
To start with, some students claim that school uniforms restrict students’ freedom of expression. Adults make their own clothing choices and have the freedom to express themselves through their appearance.
But generally students’ right to free expression remains intact even with mandatory school uniforms. And still there are many ways to express their individuality while wearing school uniforms by introducing variations and adding accessories. Adults’ freedom to express themselves in clothing is also strictly limited by dress-codes in the companies they work for.
Another concern is that buying a school uniform is extra expense fer families. Parents still need to buy regular clothes for their children to wear out of school.
However, some say that school uniforms can save parents money. Parents can reduce money they spend on clothing when their children wear the same outfit every day.
Besides, school uniforms make getting ready for school easier, that can improve punctuality.
One of the strong arguments for uniform is the absence of competition between students over clothing choices and teasing of those who are dressed in less expensive or less fashionable outfits. School uniforms keep students focused on their education, not their clothes.
On the contrary, when students have to wear the same outfits and cannot select clothes that suit their body types, they can feel embarrassed at school.
Moreover, some students find uniforms less comfortable than their regular clothes, which may not be favorable to learning.
On the other hand, in general peers and teachers have a feeling that students in uniform have higher academic potential, and even better behavior. Wearing uniform increases school pride, unity, and community spirit. Students feel that they are a part of a team. School uniforms may even improve attendance and discipline.
Another important point in favour of school uniform is safety. School uniform makes it easier to keep track of students on field trips. If a stranger comes into a school building, he\she could easily be recognized.
All in all, uniform policies are easier to introduce than a standard dress code. Clothing should not distract students from learning, although focusing on uniforms may take attention away from other important issues in education.

A school uniform is compulsory at many schools all over the world. It may vary from school to school, from country to country.

Школьная форма является обязательной во многих школах по всему миру. Она может отличаться в зависимости от школы или страны. Most pupils hate a school uniform. I can understand them. They want to express themselves or to be different. When you wear a school uniform, you look like other pupils. You do not have an opportunity to wear what you like to wear. Sometimes pupils hate to wear a school uniform because it is not favourable or even hardwearing. For example, winters are very cold in Russia so pupils may be cold if they wear a school uniform. Большинство учеников ненавидят школьную форму. Я могу их понять. Они хотят выразить себя или отличаться от других. Когда ученик носит школьную форму, он выглядит так же, как другие ученики. У него нет возможности носить то, что он любит. Иногда ученики ненавидят школьную форму, потому что она неудобная или даже быстро изнашивается. Например, зимой в России очень холодно, поэтому в школьной форме ученики могут мерзнуть.

However there are many advantages of a school uniform. First of all, you do not have to decide what you need to wear. It saves much time every morning. Besides, to some extent, a school uniform helps to avoid social inequality. Some children are from rich families and some children are not. So if pupils wear a school uniform, they will not compare themselves with other pupils every minute. Also they do not digress from the process of education.

Однако у школьной формы есть много преимуществ. Прежде всего, нет нужды решать, что нужно надеть. Это экономит много времени каждое утро. К тому же, в какой-то степени школьная форма позволяет избежать социального неравенства. Некоторые дети из богатых семей, а некоторые – нет. Поэтому, если ученики носят школьную форму, они не будут каждую минуту сравнивать себя с другими. Кроме того, они не отвлекаются от процесса обучения.

A school uniform may show from what school you are. For example, in Japan if you see a pupil wearing a particular school uniform, you can easily identify from what school he or she is. The colours, emblems or parts of clothes of the school uniform may vary.

Школьная форма может указать на то, из какой вы школы. Например, в Японии, если ученик носит определенную школьную форму, можно легко определить из какой он школы. Цвета, эмблемы или части школьной формы могут различаться.

In my opinion, despite some disadvantages of a school uniform it should be compulsory at all schools.

There is a great number of people who believe that a school uniform should be worn by students. Others, however, do not agree with that point of view.

As for me, students must wear a uniform. Firstly, when pupils wear it there is no difference between rich and poor. Everyone looks the same and students who cannot buy expensive clothes feel comfortable. Secondly, if a student cuts classes, it will be hard for him to do it because he will stand out from the crowd. Finally, if there is a different uniform in each school, students will be easily identified in case of something happen to them. For example, if a student breaks a window and runs away, he will be found by his uniform.

Nevertheless, there are people who think that there should be no school uniforms in school.

Как по мне, ученики должны носить школьную форму. Во-первых, когда ученики носят ее, нет никакой разницы между богатыми и бедными. Все выглядят одинаково, и ученики, которые не могут купить дорогую одежду, чувствуют себя комфортно. Во-вторых, если ученик будет прогуливать занятия, ему будет трудно это делать, потому что он будет выделяться из толпы. Наконец, если в каждой школе будет своя форма, то учеников будет легко идентифицировать в случае, если с ними что-то случится. Например, если ученик разобьет окно и сбежит, его найдут по форме.

Тем не менее, есть люди, которые считают, что в школе не должно быть школьной формы. По их мнению, ученики не могут показать и развить чувство стиля. В результате, в будущем они не научатся правильно одеваться.

Я не могу согласиться с этим мнением, потому что ученики носят форму в школе. В свободное время они могут носить любую одежду. У них достаточно времени, чтобы развить свой вкус к одежде. Ношение школьной формы также помогает им привыкнуть к дресс-коду, что может быть полезно для них в будущем.

В заключение хотелось бы сказать, что школьную форму необходимо носить в школах, в силу очевидных преимуществ.
