Each of us probably has childhood memories associated with going to the circus. Often these memories are kind, joyful and funny.
A circus is a type of entertainment that takes place in a special round building. The main characters of any circus performance are primarily clowns and jugglers. They run out to the circus arena in colorful costumes and their faces are painted with colors. Clowns entertain the audience with amazing tricks and jokes. The circus troupe also includes acrobats, rope-walkers, fakirs, animal trainers, jugglers, gymnasts and equilibrists.
The history of the circus dates back to ancient Rome. Of course, the Roman circus is very different from the modern one, where chariot races and gladiator fights were the main entertainment.
The modern circus consists of clownery, pantomime, juggling, illusionists, trained animals, acrobatics. In the circus arena you can see the animals obediently performing trainer’s commands. Completely different animals participate in the circus program: horses, elephants, bears, dogs, cats, lions, tigers, monkeys, pigeons, parrots. They perform tricks with somersaults, riding a bicycle or a scooter, jumping through rings, they know how to dance, walk on their hind legs.
Also, a circus program may include a fire show where tricks with fire are performed: swallowing fire, blowing out a flame, fire salute, burning. The third Saturday of April is International Circus Day.

Современный цирк состоит из клоунады, пантомимы, жонглирования, иллюзионистов, дрессированных животных, акробатики. На арене цирка можно увидеть зверей, послушно выполняющих команды дрессировщика. В цирковой программе участвуют совершенно разные животные: лошади, слоны, медведи, собаки, кошки, львы, тигры, обезьяны, голуби, попугаи. Они выполняют трюки с кувырками, катанием на велосипеде или самокате, прыжки через кольца, умеют танцевать, ходить на задних лапах.
Также цирковая программа может включать в себя огненное шоу, где исполняются трюки с огнём: глотание огня, выдувание пламени, огненный салют, поджигание. Третья суббота апреля является Международным Днём Цирка.

I like to go to the circus very much. There is a very good circus in our city. It is situated in the center of the city not far from Gagarin Avenue Underground Station. Last time my brother, my mother and I went to the circus during my winter holidays. First we went by underground to the Metro Station “Gagarin Avenue” and then we went to the circus on foot.
We left our coats in the cloak-room and then went to the hall. At the entrance we bought a programme of the show. Then we went and took our seats. Our seats were not far from the ring and we could see everything very well. The first part of the performance was very interesting — we saw many circus performers: acrobats, rope walkers, jugglers and clowns. The clowns were very funny and everybody applauded them.
During the performance the circus band was playing music all the time. Then came the interval. During the interval we went to the bar and bought ice-cream, cotton-candy and a bottle of Coca-Cola.
In the second part there were wild animals. Most of all I liked tigers and lions. They were in a large cage and performed various tricks. The animal trainer was very brave and spectators applauded much. There were also bears riding bicycles and dogs playing football.
After the performance we took our coats, and went home. On the way home we discussed the performance and everything that we had seen in the circus. I liked the visit to the circus very much.

Я очень люблю ходить в цирк. В нашем городе есть очень хороший цирк. Он расположен в центре города, недалеко от станции метро «Проспект Гагарина». Последний раз мой брат, моя мама и я ходили в цирк во время зимних каникул. Сначала мы доехали на метро до станции метро «Проспект Гагарина», а затем мы отправились в цирк пешком.

После представления мы взяли пальто и пошли домой. По дороге домой мы обсуждали представление и все, что мы увидели в цирке. Мне очень понравилось посещение цирка.

Such actions and appearance can not only make one laugh but also frighten very much, especially it concerns children.
